my smallest of miniature men hit the big 6 month mark this week.
i honestly cant believe it has been THAT LONG!
i had also completely forgotten about the way that turning six months old amps up baby development,
all of a sudden we can roll over, sit up, brew some teeth, eat solids, steal our brothers toys and cover then in a very comprehensive layer of drool, split an atom ect ect.
and despite all these new found fun and games i STILL found the time to sew! hoorah!
so in my madeit store theres some very retro fun tablecloth bags,

and a couple (more to come) of sweet little girlie sunhats,

ooh and im very chuffed with these alphabet necklaces, fun hey?

also,
and i know this is a scary thought,
its getting a little bit close to christmas!
which means only one thing........
SOFTIES FOR MIRABEL TIME!
last year i managed to donate 6 or 7 softies, and fingers crossed i can muster the same this year.

20 years! man that makes me feel old!
i have it on vinyl and cassette,
in fact i might crack open my walkman, put on some cargo shorts, channel my inner angst and reminisce.
i just wish i had have been old enough in 1991 to appreciate it more,
i still know it by heart, and is still one of my all time favourite albums.

hello lovelies
i know its been a while ;)
my two boys have been keeping me pretty busy, and consequently away from my bloggy blog.
the mini man turned 4 recently, plunging me into a world of dinosaurs cakes and well, anything ending in 'saurus'
the baby one is 4 months old now, and is getting more and more fun everyday.
i must admit i had forgotten how GOOD babies smell, and how satisfying a good baby smile or chuckle is.
i have (unbelievably) found time to do some sewing, and crocheting (more on that later though)
and eating of these.....
im not really one to jump on a bandwagon, but im well and truely aboard this one!
macaroons rock my world, i have attempted making them once, it was a disaster.
but im willing to give it another go.
i grabbed some from brunettis whilst in good ol' melbourne town a few weekends ago, pistachio, blackberry, and raspberry (it didnt make the trip home)
anyhoo, i hope you are all well, and still around!
ive got my sewing mojo on fire today, so ill be posting some gold this week

so this is what ive been working on lately.....
i must admit i did have a little help with this project ;)
our lovely little boy Des Perry arrived on the 19th april all safe and sound.
he is being VERY good to his mama, and his big bro is chuffed to bits with him!
its mothers day on sunday peeps! dont forget!
i will be waking to some chai in bed, a wander around the mton racecourse market then off to the in-laws for afternoon tea (i hope theres scones)
even though im far to late to put in my requests for mamas day, i do LOVE these rings, they're from lovestamp on madeit

ok so heres the deal,
i crocheted a giant squid for the mini man, from a pattern, to the letter.
and it kinda looks like a penis with tentacles!
he loves it, (and has already requested the manta ray, now thats frought with danger!) im not so sure of the reaction he'll get if we take it out in public.....
have you ever gone to the depths of your creative prowess only to have it turn out like a piece of anatomy?

gimpy feet, justine clarke, and 90's rock

im becoming increasingly obsessed with 90's music.
mainly early to mid 90's.
not that i wasnt obsessed in the 90's, but ive found a whole new appreciation for it all.
makes me wish i was just a tiny bit older back then so i could have seen some of these great bands live.
what makes the whole experience even more authentic, is that i only have my fav 90's albums on tape, and we only have a tape player in macguyvers ute, ah i love guessing where each song is when rewinding!
whilst on the topic of music, i remember swearing that when i had kids "there was NO WAY i was EVER buying a kids cd to play in the car!"
well the day has come my lovelies, we are currently rocking out to 'songs to make you smile' by the wonderful, cute, funny, and oh so lovely justine clarke.
yep, TOOL has been replaced with such classics as 'roar like a dinosaur' and 'painting a picture'.
the mini man is mighty impressed!
whilst on the topic of mini men (im queen of the segue today!)
lets talk shoes!
our lovely, little, nearly 4 yr old, mini man has been blessed (or more likely cursed) with my big, stupid, flat, gimpy feet. plus on top of that they are pronated (roll in a bit)
he sees a podiatrist and wears orthotics, but we have to buy shoes with a fair arch in them also just to boost the orthotics.
HOW EXPENSIVE ARE KIDS SHOES?
i mean really?
luckily i dont have a crazy shoe fetish, and live in my 3yr old havianas, and occasionally a pair of 10yr old all stars.
well thanks for you time peeps, im four weeks out from delivering mini man #2, and im determined to get some stock into my madeit store, ill keep you all posted!

i just had to have my dear old cat put to sleep.
19 not out, a pretty good innings i think!
he had a massive tumour taking over his body, and most probably advanced heart disease, not to mention being incontinent.
ive had him around for longer than i havent, we had some great times together, and im just glad i got to take care of him in his old age.
so im a bit of a blubbery mess tonight.....
the mini man is pulling funny faces and singing songs to cheer me up ;)
i wonder how gatto (our other kitty) will go without his best bud?

of nature and nurture...

ive been pondering alot lately about how our own childhoods affect our childrens childhoods?
clearly im all very pregnant, and without a sewing room, im doing far too much pondering for my own good!
so what do we think? do the ways we were brought up affect the way we bring up our kidlets?
my family is the epitome of dysfunctional, for one reason or another no-one seems to have contact with anyone else, and aside from me seeing my cousins, no-one would know each other from a bar of soap.
being more or less an only child, i spent alot of time by myself, wasnt ever aloud to have friends over, and birthday parties were off limits too. (i must add in here that my mum has suffered with bi-polar disorder for many years, and as i have learnt over the years, she just doesnt like people)
so needless to say this isnt at all what i want for my kidlets, the mini man reguarly sees his cousins, goes on playdates, has many friends, and will certainly be having a birthday party every year!
is it a conscious decision we make as parents? thoughts?
anyhoo, we are off on a lil family holiday over the long weekend, im going to attempt to crochet a newborn beanie, wish me luck, ill post picks when we get back!

methinks mama nature isnt very happy with us,
it seems like not a week has gone by when there hasnt been rolling coverage of one natural disaster or another.
its starting to get to me a bit, admittedly im just shy of 7 months pregnant and slightly emotional, but i really dont want to have to explain another disaster to the mini man.
i do however completely appreciate how very lucky we are to live in an area that doesnt get affected by earthquakes, or cyclones, or flooding.
on a lighter note, ive been nesting like crazy, and have been sewing up these over the past week or so,

my sweet little mini man got his VERY FIRST birthday party invitation yesterday!
yay!
so off we go on sunday to eat sausage rolls and fairy bread no doubt.
he was very good helping me pick a present, and has already decided that his 'mr tickle' shirt would be suitable attire ;)
teamed with the beginnings of the birthday party circut, he starts kinder this week!
double yay!
at orientation he didnt want to leave, and has informed me that i didnt need to stay with him this time, he's ok all by himself..... (well thats debatable)
the crafty side of life has been seriously neglected of late, with all my crafty goodness still packed up waiting for my new study/ nursery, im starting to struggle.
i have managed to make an overnight bag from a beautiful melly and me pattern, i havent put the base in yet, so ill share a pic when its all kosher.
And today im off to TRY and find some curtain fabric, i really hate buying new fabric, i just cant manage to find enough reclaimed/ vintage fabric to cover to windows, hmmm........

im totes excited, not only to be spending a child free night out with my beloved, in beautiful weather, with a delicious meal no doubt but also because we are going to see.....

yes thats right peeps, im channeling my inner 16yr old metal lover and FINALLY going to see maynard in all his glory.
i have missed out on tickets to see TOOL so many times its not funny at all.
so here i go, 15 years older, 6 months pregnant, and i little beside myself with glee.

i think my poor old cat may be on his last legs :(
admittedly he is 18.
i got him when i was 12, and i still remember it perfectly!
he was the runt of the litter at rspca, and i figured that no-one else would want him, so i took pity.
we used to play hide and seek, id take him for walks with a little harness and lead, ah they were the days!
when i moved out of home for uni ect he stayed with mum, which i dont think he was too stoked about.
he's never been a fan of homebrand dry cat food ;)
i finally took him back many years later, after mum told me he was on his last legs and if i didnt take him he was being put down.
that was 5 years ago!
he has always acted like a silly little kitten, up untill a couple of weeks ago.
he will only eat beef mince now, wont come inside when its hot (even with the aircon on)
and has started over the weekend to look like he's struggling a bit.
so off to the vet it is,
ill keep you posted as to the verdict.

well its been a long time between drinks hey?
i have been super busy despite having ALL my crafty goodness packed up! eeeek!
you see we were off on a well earned and appreciated beach holiday straight after christmas, macguyver sailed his boat like there was no tomorrow, while the mini man and i did a whole lot of sandcastle building, swimming, crab hunting, and dinosaur hatching (we bought this awesome 'egg' that you submerse in water and slowly a a little baby dinosaur 'hatches' out. days of fun!).
i took 'guantanamo' by david hicks to read while we were away, its taken me a bit longer than i had thought to get through mainly because its so very thorough, and really emotionally draining.
has anyone else read it? id love to hear your thoughts!
well we are back home and have just finished renovating our old study to become the mini mans new big boys room, and now its full steam ahead at transforming his old room into a nursery/ study, for the pending baby brother.
so while the crafting is on the back burner at the moment peeps, im far from quiet.
i donated some goods to the handmade kids and rudy and the dodo flood relief auction with great success! overall the austion raised in excess of $14,000 and my owls and purse raised $120, yay!
i hope you are all well and had a fab christmas break!

id like to thank everyone who has supported little wise owl over the past year, and provided me with laughs, inspiration, encouragement, and smiles.
i hope that every one of you have an absolutely brilliant christmas, surrounded by family, friends and our most loved.
while we drink eggnog, dine on scrumptious christmas dinners and open pressies, lets all take a little moment to think about those living on the streets, those desperate and willing to risk they're lives to get to our country (id like to thank the lovely cath for this post), those unable to celebrate with their family, and those who are battling illness.
as we anticipate the arrival of number 2 in the new year, i look forward to more craftyness, some new stock, a holiday (wooo!), and a few changes around the place,and hope you will all be along for the ride.

he is developing the craziest sence of humour, which i must admit involves mainly jokes about poo or bums!

yep, halfway already!
halfway through incubating another son for macguyver and i,
halfway through creating a playmate for the mini man,
and halfway through renovating the study to become 'the boys room'
we are all suitably very chuffed, and after a good 20 weeks of insufferable nausea, im feeling human again.
this of course means that there will be a few changes around the 'hotel le owly'.
other than the obvious of downsizing my study/ sewing room (sob)
im taking some time 'off' over christmas, to relax, hang with macguyver, and be fat at the beach.
after which i will be taking this 'little wise owl' in a slightly different direction.
still the same feel, and most likely much of the same products, (plus some super fun new ones) just slower!
i certainly dont want to quit it all, just enjoy it more.
over the past couple of years, business has gone from nothing to crazy taxi in such a quick time that there have been times where i 'had' to make stock,
this i dont like!
i began this whole adventure because i LOVE to make, i LOVE to make all kinds of things, and i want to share that love with all of you.
so from here on in, there will be nothing but LOVE, more one of a kinds, more experimenting with designs, techniques, and more fun.
i hope you will all come along for the ride, and hopefully enjoy it as much as i will,
its going to be fun!
p.s as soon as this weather clears, im going to take some pics and list on madeit a couple of elf softies i have made for christmas, theyre VERY cute!

softies for mirabel

after my market on saturday i popped around the corner and dropped off my 'softies for mirabel' to the ever lovely pip at 'meet me at mikes'.
its such a great idea, and pip does such a great job of collecting and displaying all the softies before they go out to awesome kids just in time for christmas.
The Mirabel Foundation is based in Melbourne, they do great work helping kids who have been orphaned or abandoned due to their Mum or Dad's drug addiction. most of the kids end up being cared for by their grandparents.
Mirabel provides assistance and counselling in all sorts of ways to help the families.
the softies for mirabel project is just one way we can make a little difference and make sure these awesome kids know people care.
this year i handed in 4 softies, and i think ill probably send in some more (if all goes well)
so get on board, you dont have to be the most amazing sewer of all time, just willing to donate.

im one of those peeps who breaks out in hives if a mosquito even looks at me from a distance,
in fact im sporting a 50 cent sized welt on my forearm from an attack last night. i very much dislike mozzies, and i very much dislike mozzie repelling products, so im in a slight pickle.
i came across this at a market i did recently, and it ROCKS!
so sayonara itchy itches this summer.
also im hitting the blackbird market this sat (13th nov) in good ol' fitzroy, so come and say hello!

why? i hear you asking, well i started collecting them a couple of years back to make bon bons for christmas, which i did. great fun.
but i never stopped collecting them, i suppose i see some potential in them, i just dont know what that potential is.

i need some ideas from you clever, crafty, peeps for what i can do with my stockpile.
sure i could make bonbons again, possibly will, but theres still so many!

my neice turned 4 last week! her birthday is only a week after mine so im always really prepared with her pressies.

this year i decided to make her some skirts. after making one for lulufroufrou's skirt intervention, i decided i was onto a good thing.
so here they are, three sweet little skirts for such a sweet little girl!
they are made ENTIRELY from vintage and reclaimed materials, and i handsewed all the doilies on i know, i am a little bit crazy.

its that time of year, where i get all ants in my fishermans pants, and start thinking of a long weekend in the country.
hmmm preferably around the 10th - 12th of december, not too big a drive but far away enough to stay the night, byo, no dickheads, fab music?
oh yesiree peeps it nearly meredith time!
for anyone out there who goes, i need not preach to the converted, for those who dont.....you have NO IDEA what you are missing!
the meredith music festival is one of our few holidays of the year, and as soon we drive out the gates on the sunday im looking forward to the next one.
this will be the mini mans 3rd meredith, yep 3 1/2 and nearly a veteran.
highlights from last year include him staying up especially to see jarvis cocker, and attempting to mow nearly the entire festival site.
this year is a bit extra special... for starters its the 20th anniversary, (our 9th) and also
THE DIRTY THREE ARE PLAYING!!!
oh yes, im 'peeing my pants' excited.
the dirty three are amazing to say the least, but at meredith....unbelievable! (people who were there for the electrical storm will know what i mean)
so cross your fingers and toes, and anything else you can to make sure we get offered tickets in the ballot.
let the countdown begin!

i have the grandest husband in the galaxy!
not only for the convenience of his great height, his cleverness with fixing the unfixable,our shared love of recycling stuffs, and his incredibly humorous interpretive dance that usually shows itself when asking me a question.
but because he bakes! and well, very well i must add!
last market, i was soo looking forward to devonshire tea but never got around to getting some so......
upon calling said 'grand husband' at completion of the market to see if there was anything i needed to get on the way home, he replyed with ' yes, some cream! thick cream'
HE HAD MADE ME SCONES! YEP, KICK..ARSE...SCONES!
and this little baking fad didnt, and hasnt worn off either.
after spending a whole day out galavanting in the city and to ikea i got home (albeit very late) to a delicious chocolate cake, yay!
and i caught him reading my nigella lawson bible of cookerey, not just looking up a recipie, but reading through it!
ah, what a man.

ok so ive been a little quiet lately....
its been busy busy beavers here at the chateau owly, wholesale orders coming in thick and fast, market prep, and call me crazy but im painting the house!
yep, painting.
honestly i really enjoy it, as long as all the sanding/ filling/ phaffing about is done prior to me opening the tin of paint.
but this time round i have a 3yr old helper! interesting times here.
he is quite a good apprentice, he has a mini roller and works the bottom half of the wall while i do the top, and then i run over his part as i finish. im really chuffed that a potentially frustrating and tedious task is oh so simply fixed with a 'special roller'.
for anyone who doesnt know our house, we have candy striped feature walls, and whilst i know they look fab they have been slowly driving me a bit batty over the pat 4 or so years.
so they will be no more, all my walls shall be as one! (well except one little wall in the lounge that i loooove)
we are switzerland! as neutral as you can get, and it feels really nice, relaxing, like a big breath out.
oh the mini man and i are starting 'creative movement' classes on fridays! im super pumped and i hope he is too, first one is tomorrow, ill keep you posted!

something fishy going on

this weekend marked the annual trip to macclesfield to get our trout.
around this time of year for the past 3, we have made the beautiful trip up past emerald to macclesfield to the macclesfield trout farm. we dont go to fish, rather to a) amuse roy, and b)to get some fingerlings for the aquaponics set up.
this year was a corker! they were emptying one of the ponds, so roy got to see some fresh water crays, a huge salmon, and an eel. fun all round!
our aquaponics project has looked rather dismal of late, overgrown foxglove, a random capsicum, and the remnants of my heritage pin cushion flower that went to seed.
i think we were still mourning some major fatalities of the trout variety whilst away on christmas holidays and we let it go a bit.
but we are back on board, 20 or so happy little fish, two cranky yabbies, and four beautiful grow beds just waiting to be planted in.
thinking maybe some lettuce, definately some broccoli, and i want to try something different, maybe kale?
p.s i had some beautiful pics of the trout and roy helping but damn blogger wont let me upload pic at the mo. :(

i have developed a recent love of funny people! luckily for me dave is the funniest person of all, so that makes my new found fascination quite convenient.
maybe im ovulating, im sure i read somewhere that a majority of women are attracted to artsy/funny people at that time as opposed to serious/business minded people the other 3 or so weeks of the month.
hmmm, anyhow, my fondness has been directed mainly at seth rogenyes of superbad, funny people, 40 yr old virgin etc etc etc. tubby or not, hes one attractive man, maybe its the jew-fro? i have always loved a jew-fro......
and johnny galecky well more 'dr leonard hofstader' from big bang theory.
not sure what it is, after all humour is sexy, isnt it?

neil young, breakdancing, and craft swaps

roy loves helping me make dinner. one of my many steps in making him a fully domesticated future husband for a very lucky gal, or guy out there.
but last night something was amiss! he didnt want to help chop the broccoli, or beans, or help set the table! you see there was far more important matters to address.
neil young and breakdancing! yep together!
obvious really, i often think about throwing down a cardboard box and cutting loose when i hear 'heart of gold'.
he was having THE BEST time and we were both very proud parents to add neil young to his plethora of favourite music (which includes jarvis cocker, elliot smith, hole, and jet).
So we convinced him to come and sit to have dinner and all was good with the world, but then "mamma, roys not happy" complete with head in hands resting on the table and a rather large sigh.
confused i asked what he had said, "roys not happy mamma, not happy" again with the sigh.
"why arent you happy my love?" i asked why dave tried to contain himself
"roy wants to go over to the lovely music, and do more dancing" with another sigh
ah thats my boy!
and on another unrelated note, im considering another craft swap. send out approx 1st july, whos interested?

just been down and got cleo, for the first time in about 15 yrs. not for the 'never fail bedroom moves', or the 'epic sex guide' but for pg 32..

roys 'whats in the fruitbowl?' cake

i thought id share a favourite recipe of ours, its been fiddled with over time, and is a weekly visitor of late.
the fruit component can be changed, ive used apricots, raspberries, pawpaw, mango ect ect
(its dairy free but by all means substitute soy for cows milk and oil for melted butter)

2 bananas, as ripe and mushy as possible
1 cup of strawberries halved
one grated apple
100ml vegie oil
2 eggs
1/2 cup of sugar, or honey
2 cups s/r flour
1/2 cup soy milk
dash of vanilla essence

combine all the fruit with the wet ingredients, add the flour (sifted), and sugar.
mix well and place in a well greased cake pan, or a magical 'no need to grease' silicon one
bake at 180 for about 40 mins or untill golden on top.
great with some cream cheese icing, or as a loaf, sliced with a bit of butter.

you need to make one medium sized craft item to send to your swap partner. it can be anything that you like, enjoy making etc etc.

ok so this is what im thinking!
i love getting fun things in the mail, and i love making fun things for other people. i figure there are a few other people out there who share this love, so my thought was to have a monthly craft swap! people sign up for the given month via this blog, i swap all the names around and contact you with your 'swap partner' and voila! craftly love all over the country!
i was thinking one medium craft item per swap, and maybe a theme for each swap! oooh exciting!
so whos in for march?? send out date is last day of the month (march 31st) and lets say cut off date to sign up is.......14th march.
cool, now to think of a theme......any suggestions?

the epiphany....

i have decided to stop dying my hair.
being one who has dyed their hair every colour under the sun (i kid you not, i distinctly remember a bleached blonde and aqua green dredded stage) for the past 15 years this isnt a decision i have taken lightly.
ok, well it is, i literally woke up the other day and thought 'you know what would be fun?.... letting all those greys shine though!'
so here begins the somewhat awkward process.
i have ALOT of grey hair, and coming up to 30 this year i figure i should be able to pull it off for a while.
you see, i really dislike my natural hair colour, at the moment im dying it a auburn red with black fringe, but with all the grey, theres not much of that colour i despise so much.
so here goes nothing, come along with me its going to be a wild ride!

i love toilet training! its the bane of my existence!
yesterday whilst sewing happily, minding my own business, i heard the rather worrying sound of liquid falling from a height!
i rushed to the loungeroom to see what roy was trying to 'wash', only to find him at his potty standing up to wee. i moved in to congratulate him on a job well done when he turned to see me, weeing apparatus in hand and proceeded to wee all over my foot whilst giggling excitedly!
after the cleanup i resumed my sewing only to have roy come in every 30 seconds to point and proclaim "mamas got wee wee feet!" and run away with the same excited giggle.
ah kids! oh to have their lifestyle!
so we are making gingerbread men today, straight from the maisy mouse almanac of cookery. im sure it wont just be gingerbread men, probably bears, aeroplanes, tractors, dinosaurs and anything else that takes roys fancy.

whos a busy beaver?

it feels like christmas was a million years ago! what a crazy whirlwind of a january i have had so far!
being fairly new to this ' make stuff and sell it ' thing, im a little blown away by the past few months!
so needless to say im a busy busy beaver! this week ive been trying! my very hardest to get some new 2010 stock up on madeit, some diarys, cross stitches (more on them later), and new funky snuggly bears coming soon. also trying to restock all the old favourites, (babushkas, snap purses ect ect)
i sent some cross stitches off to cleo for a shoot, cant wait to see them in print!
gearing up for the feb blackbird market at the workers club,
waiting to hear back from vic markets to see if they have a space for me at mornington or red hill,
tossing around some ideas for a new tattoo sometime in the near future,
preparing myself for the prospect of turning 30! ( im really looking forward to it!)
and we had our 6th wedding anniversary! 6 years! i cant believe it, time certainly does fly when you're having fun!
so my question is......
what are your ideas for 2010? any grand plans, trips of a lifetime, personal goals?

as some of you know, we are holding THE party of the year (daves 30th) tomorrow night! so my efforts have been concentrated on sourcing some great brie, making sure we have enough sav blanc, and as you can see making floral arrangements! tomorrow i have a fun filled 30 something degree day of filling balloons with helium, arranging tressles, and chilling beer.
next week im back on the sewing thing! sorry janice, i have been neglecting you of late!

oh meredith! how i love thee!

my wonderful trusty and ever so friendly postman delivered my much anticipated MEREDITH MUSIC FESTIVAL TICKETS!!!! today!
i am so far beyond excited, that im having trouble containing it!
you see meredith is most often than not, our only holiday for the year. a situation which i am more than comfortable with, and look forward to from the moment we leave the year before.
meredith is also the happiest place on earth (not disneyland, despite popular belief)
but last year i didnt quite get my fill, due to CRAZY weather, (i mean flooding, torrential rain, freezing temps, collapsed tent and a 18month old boy to boot) im ashamed to say we piked early!
so this year im super organised! we are taking daves sisters camper, and ive promised to pack sensible clothing. (dresses and thongs didnt quite cut it last year!)
this will be our 8th meredith and roys 2nd, it has changed slightly since our first dabble in 2000, but still has the same charms, hari chrishna food, fantastic lineup and kick arse chai that it did way back when i was younger, thinner, more naive, and less motherly.
so heres to you meredith! only 29 more sleeps till we meet again, just like alan alda and ellen burstyn in 'same time next year' we will have a grand, passionate, fun filled weekend!

well for as long as i can remember i have been trying to organize, (and save up for) daves 30th birthday present. so now finally comes the day to pick it up!
tomorrow im off to the city to collect the guitar that has been providing me with so much anxiety, excitement, and frustration over the past few months. and hide it from him till thursday morning. im so excited!.....probably more excited than i should be seeing as i dont play guitar, but it is an awesome piece of musicalness (is that a word?)
and im so happy for him to be getting a really good new guitar.
i wont post a photo just yet, in case he decides to check my blog tomorrow while im away collecting it, but thursday ill post a photo of the beast! xxx

oh 'reality bites', if i had a dollar for everytime i watched that movie in the 90's id be a rich gal!
its nearlys daves 30th! and for the occasion we are having a 90's themed night, yes! think grunge, 'friends', teen angst movies, oasis, spice girls, wearing lingerie outside (what was with that?) and all things 90's. needless to say we have been raiding everyones cd collections for 90's hits and have found some gold! hole, 'celebrity skin' now has residency in my car, and beck, 'odelay' has residency on my cd player at home.

well today i was going to blog about the sweet little chocolate custard tarts im making to tak eto dinner at my sister-in-laws tonight, but more exciting thing are a-happening!

her name is anke weckmann and i think her prints are just so lovely! i especially like this one as it has a tree, (i like trees) a cat, (well i have two, they dont allways let me like them though!) and they are drinking tea, (i REALLY like drinking tea)

me? im looking forward to 2 of the loveliest people i know getting married, not together, separately to their relevant fiances. and to our family camping trip to bright in march.

i finally got my new glasses! found them on etsy a few weeks ago and just had to have them. my new friend 'mr optometrist man' went above and beyond the call of duty to fit new multifocal lenses in them. yay! so here they are, i have been informed that they were previously safety glasses from the late 40's. they are now my best friend!

i realised today that it has been 17 years already that i have had my trusty companion the janome my style 30. and while realising this, i also realised that i have never named her! which is very unlike me, i name everything! cars, plants, roys toys ect ect.
we have had some great times, she has been with me through sickness and health, good times and bad, and a good 5 years where as a starving art student i couldnt afford to get her serviced.
so from this day forth she shall now be known as JANIS! all hail queen janis!!
i also from this day on promise to treat her with the respect she deserves! more regular servicing, i wont try to sew vinyl with all purpose needles and ill try to remember to oil her at least every now and then. because without her i would certainly be pretty screwed!
i love you janis, and happy 17th birthday for tomorrow!

today i found myself getting really frustrated at mum, who was so overly impatient even Roy was getting anxious.
first it started in the supermarket, which i avoid at all costs! some renovations had been happening of late and it drove mum insane that her longlife milk wasnt in the same spot it was a fortnight ago.
then i had to get fuel! due to our wonderful pack mentality, everyone within koowee of me had decided to fill up the exact same time as us. i was quite happy playing 'i spy' with roy, but mum was twiddling her thumbs, checking her watch every 30 seconds, and tapping her feet impatiently.
so on the way home we have to pass a school, which i quite enjoy. roy loves to watch all the 'big kids' on their bikes and scooters, and waves to them as if he knows them all REALLY well. but mum asked me a)what on earth the hold up was, and b) if there was any other way we could go. so i turned the car around and went a good 3km out of our way so she didnt have to sit and wait for the kids to cross the road.
i have all the time in the world, im never in a hurry, and i suppose mum had somewhere secret she needed to be?
i wonder if i can impose a 'NO IMPATIENCE' zone in my house/car/personal space?
hmmmm i wonder?

what more can i say? i really love and appreciate tea! all sorts, anytime, any occasion.
i especially love earl grey, and chai. i have recently got onto this 'tease tea', they are at my local market,(CONVENIENT!) and they have great blends. along with all the standards, earl grey, chai, green, ect ect, they have a chilli tea, which is black tea blended with chilli, cinnamon cloves and other fun things. it is amazing! not burny burny hot, just a bit of a kick! and fantastic for relieving any sinus congestion.... so tea lovers unite! and enjoy one of your favourite blends today!
p.s is there an international tea lovers day? there should be!

ok so this the the start of the whole blogging thing. after reading so many other awesome blogs i thought i would have a crack at it myself. it will no doubt take me some time to get the hang of it, but i hope it to be fun for you and myself!
