between the party extravaganza, and restocking stores, ive been trying to get some new stuff onto madeit and also stocking up for the blackbird market. (and making a batch of AMAZING apricot and strawberry jam)

my creative space

as some of you know, we are holding THE party of the year (daves 30th) tomorrow night! so my efforts have been concentrated on sourcing some great brie, making sure we have enough sav blanc, and as you can see making floral arrangements! tomorrow i have a fun filled 30 something degree day of filling balloons with helium, arranging tressles, and chilling beer.
next week im back on the sewing thing! sorry janice, i have been neglecting you of late!

oh meredith! how i love thee!

my wonderful trusty and ever so friendly postman delivered my much anticipated MEREDITH MUSIC FESTIVAL TICKETS!!!! today!
i am so far beyond excited, that im having trouble containing it!
you see meredith is most often than not, our only holiday for the year. a situation which i am more than comfortable with, and look forward to from the moment we leave the year before.
meredith is also the happiest place on earth (not disneyland, despite popular belief)
but last year i didnt quite get my fill, due to CRAZY weather, (i mean flooding, torrential rain, freezing temps, collapsed tent and a 18month old boy to boot) im ashamed to say we piked early!
so this year im super organised! we are taking daves sisters camper, and ive promised to pack sensible clothing. (dresses and thongs didnt quite cut it last year!)
this will be our 8th meredith and roys 2nd, it has changed slightly since our first dabble in 2000, but still has the same charms, hari chrishna food, fantastic lineup and kick arse chai that it did way back when i was younger, thinner, more naive, and less motherly.
so heres to you meredith! only 29 more sleeps till we meet again, just like alan alda and ellen burstyn in 'same time next year' we will have a grand, passionate, fun filled weekend!

well for as long as i can remember i have been trying to organize, (and save up for) daves 30th birthday present. so now finally comes the day to pick it up!
tomorrow im off to the city to collect the guitar that has been providing me with so much anxiety, excitement, and frustration over the past few months. and hide it from him till thursday morning. im so excited!.....probably more excited than i should be seeing as i dont play guitar, but it is an awesome piece of musicalness (is that a word?)
and im so happy for him to be getting a really good new guitar.
i wont post a photo just yet, in case he decides to check my blog tomorrow while im away collecting it, but thursday ill post a photo of the beast! xxx

oh 'reality bites', if i had a dollar for everytime i watched that movie in the 90's id be a rich gal!
its nearlys daves 30th! and for the occasion we are having a 90's themed night, yes! think grunge, 'friends', teen angst movies, oasis, spice girls, wearing lingerie outside (what was with that?) and all things 90's. needless to say we have been raiding everyones cd collections for 90's hits and have found some gold! hole, 'celebrity skin' now has residency in my car, and beck, 'odelay' has residency on my cd player at home.

so my question is.....'whats your favourite song/album from the 90's?'

summer here i come!

well today i was going to blog about the sweet little chocolate custard tarts im making to tak eto dinner at my sister-in-laws tonight, but more exciting thing are a-happening!
i just got a text from the lovely courtney over at the 'blackbird summer market' to say that i got in! wooooo! im very excited! this will be my first market though....... and im a bit nervous too.
anyhoo, its on the 5th of dec at the workers club in fitzroy. heaps more info available here

i happened to be browsing etsy this morning whilst wallowing in my throat infected delirium and came across this very talented lady!
her name is anke weckmann and i think her prints are just so lovely! i especially like this one as it has a tree, (i like trees) a cat, (well i have two, they dont allways let me like them though!) and they are drinking tea, (i REALLY like drinking tea)
so....on the christmas list it goes!

i finally got my new glasses! found them on etsy a few weeks ago and just had to have them. my new friend 'mr optometrist man' went above and beyond the call of duty to fit new multifocal lenses in them. yay! so here they are, i have been informed that they were previously safety glasses from the late 40's. they are now my best friend!

meet janis!

i realised today that it has been 17 years already that i have had my trusty companion the janome my style 30. and while realising this, i also realised that i have never named her! which is very unlike me, i name everything! cars, plants, roys toys ect ect.
we have had some great times, she has been with me through sickness and health, good times and bad, and a good 5 years where as a starving art student i couldnt afford to get her serviced.
so from this day forth she shall now be known as JANIS! all hail queen janis!!
i also from this day on promise to treat her with the respect she deserves! more regular servicing, i wont try to sew vinyl with all purpose needles and ill try to remember to oil her at least every now and then. because without her i would certainly be pretty screwed!
i love you janis, and happy 17th birthday for tomorrow!

meet me at mikes are doing their 3rd 'softies for mirabel' drive! this is a great idea for all those crafters out there to spread some christmas cheer to the less fortunate kiddies out there. theres heaps more info here and the deadline for donations is 10th of december (just before meredith weekend, for anyone going!) so get on board the softies train, experiment with crafty fun, and know that your beautiful creations are going to be cuddled by some lovely kids!

boy have i been a busy little chicken! loads of new fun things in the madeit store! handbags, purses, ect ect ect! and im card making all day today so there will be loads of them on tomorrow! yay!

impatience....huh! what is it good for? absolutely nothing!

today i found myself getting really frustrated at mum, who was so overly impatient even Roy was getting anxious.
first it started in the supermarket, which i avoid at all costs! some renovations had been happening of late and it drove mum insane that her longlife milk wasnt in the same spot it was a fortnight ago.
then i had to get fuel! due to our wonderful pack mentality, everyone within koowee of me had decided to fill up the exact same time as us. i was quite happy playing 'i spy' with roy, but mum was twiddling her thumbs, checking her watch every 30 seconds, and tapping her feet impatiently.
so on the way home we have to pass a school, which i quite enjoy. roy loves to watch all the 'big kids' on their bikes and scooters, and waves to them as if he knows them all REALLY well. but mum asked me a)what on earth the hold up was, and b) if there was any other way we could go. so i turned the car around and went a good 3km out of our way so she didnt have to sit and wait for the kids to cross the road.
i have all the time in the world, im never in a hurry, and i suppose mum had somewhere secret she needed to be?
i wonder if i can impose a 'NO IMPATIENCE' zone in my house/car/personal space?
hmmmm i wonder?

I LOVE TEA

what more can i say? i really love and appreciate tea! all sorts, anytime, any occasion.
i especially love earl grey, and chai. i have recently got onto this 'tease tea', they are at my local market,(CONVENIENT!) and they have great blends. along with all the standards, earl grey, chai, green, ect ect, they have a chilli tea, which is black tea blended with chilli, cinnamon cloves and other fun things. it is amazing! not burny burny hot, just a bit of a kick! and fantastic for relieving any sinus congestion.... so tea lovers unite! and enjoy one of your favourite blends today!
p.s is there an international tea lovers day? there should be!

ok so this the the start of the whole blogging thing. after reading so many other awesome blogs i thought i would have a crack at it myself. it will no doubt take me some time to get the hang of it, but i hope it to be fun for you and myself!
